About Salem Khalifa Alketbi
Salem was born on May 4, 1988, in Dubai, to a middle-class, loving, big family of nine children, and he was the fifth born after four girls. His childhood was quite interesting, growing up with four sisters who were thrilled to have a brother. His parents played a crucial role in shaping his personality, but Salem was always much more mature than his peers, and he had an insatiable curiosity. Besides, he was an active child who loved running and engaging in any physical activity. Salem's father owned an animal farm, as was common among Bedouins who owned cattle, and Salem spent most of his childhood with animals and plants, which may have influenced his love for nature.
Salem excelled in school due to his love for learning, which fed his curiosity and shaped his future. In school, he showed interest in science, particularly biology, literature, and sports. After graduating high school, he received a sponsorship from the Dubai Police to study biology, and in 2011, he graduated with a Bachelor's (Hons) in Forensic Biology from the University of Central Lancashire in Preston, England. During his time in England, Salem discovered his love for traveling, learning new cultures and languages. He also developed an interest in art and photography, which became one of his favourite hobbies.
Salem began his career with the Dubai Police by joining the police academy to study police sciences, and he graduated with flying colours, receiving three First Class Appreciation Badges. He further excelled in his work as a crime scene investigator officer and forensic DNA analyst, which earned him the Dubai Police Excellency Award as the best new employee. After doing a great job at work, Salem secured another sponsorship from the Dubai Police to pursue postgraduate studies in England, at the same university where he graduated. In 2014, he graduated with a master's degree in DNA Profiling, which helped him to improve his skills in the forensic DNA field. After working tirelessly for another four years, Salem was granted study leave to begin his doctorate studies. In 2023, he accomplished his goal of earning a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Forensic and Applied Sciences, with his unique research on Analysis of Touch DNA.
